Summer has arrived in full force.  School is/almost out and soon kids will be running around like crazy.  Now is a great time for your children to get their summer spine check!  Here’s why…

School is tough

Work is hard enough on an adults spine but think of what school (kids version of work) does to our poor children’s spines!

They carry heavy backpacks day in and day out.  Get roughed up on the playground.  They battle the demands of sports and other extracurricular activities.  And let us not forget about the poor posture all day.

Technology

Another big reason that kids (and adults) spines are becoming more problematic lately is due to technology.  Just watch people around you one day.  They are looking at some form of technology.  Phones, tablets, computers, video games, and other devices are putting a strain on our posture.  There is even a new term for this epidemic…tech neck!

So, let’s face it, our kid’s spines need some help!

This is why a summer spinal check is a great idea for your child to get checked and see if they are dealing with any spinal misalignments (subluxations).

Common symptoms of spinal misalignments

In both children and adults, the most common complaints seen from misaligned vertebrae are back pain, neck pain, headaches, poor posture, and tightness/stiffness.  In the early stages, however, there sometimes are no symptoms right away.

If left untreated for a while, these stuck spinal bones can cause bigger problems down the road.  This is especially more likely in the development and growth of a child.

A great analogy used for children is “as the twig is bent so grows the tree.”

The quicker the spinal misalignment(s) are detected and corrected the better you usually heal and feel.

No better time than now

We know the beginning of summer is crazy and there is a lot to do but there is no better time than now to get a simmer spine check.  We will take a look at your child’s spine and see what is going on.  Something else we will look for is scoliosis. This is a curvature of the spine which usually starts in school-age children.

If any misalignments are found a gentle adjustment will be provided as long as everything else looks okay.

With kids, depending on their size, weight, and age we can use one of our adjusting instruments and or light pressure hands-on adjustments to help start correcting their spinal motion and alignment.

Typically kids heal faster than adults and require less care which is great!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
